2 SECONDS TO REBLOG COULD SAVE A LIFE
Evening guys, this man needs serious help!
One of his friends contacted me personally and said he need a heart transplant as soon as possible.
If you could spread this word, he would be grateful!
So Injustice!Damian got me thinking…
I think he’d be a combination of Robin + Nightwing + samurai/ninja-assassin. He’d work solo and mostly down-low, like Cass, but can be flashy at times due to his experience as Robin. Although I like the escrimas, they’re really Dick’s signature weapon, so I thought to modify them a little bit to also be inspired by his League heritage. They’re like bokuto and don’t actually cut anything, but Damian probably hits pretty hard, so villains beware. :p
GAZA UNDER ATTACK NOW.
important world update:
Gaza + Palestine are under attack by Israel, death toll currently at 27 :(
This has been a long and destructive period between Israel + Palestine. If anyone has any reliable sources to learn more about what’s going on at this current moment, please let me know

This girl, named Hannah Batty, has been reported missing and was last seen at Warped Tour in Toronto.
Please take a second of your time to reblog this post and help us find this girl.
Batty is described as white, 5’5”, 115 lbs., with brown eyes and long, dyed blue hair. She was wearing a black tank top, blue denim cut-off shorts and black Vans sneakers. She has stretchers in her earlobes.
"Concert-goers, promoters, crew, vendors and bands from Toronto’s Vans Warped Tour stop July 4 are being asked to come forward if they remember seeing someone fitting the description of Hannah Batty, or to check their cell phones for inadvertently snapped photos or videos that she happens to be in. The 15-year-old, with long dyed blue hair and wearing a Ghost Town shirt — one of the acts on the bill — was last seen at the lakefront concert at The Flats at Molson Amphitheatre on the Ontario Place grounds at approximately 8 p.m.” (full article here)

Far too close to home to ignore.
Get the word out, my dears.
This is supposed to happen the first time Persephone is back to the Underworld….so I went and made a sequel for a comic that hasn’t even happened yet. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey….
Did I regret anything? No. No I don’t.
He kidnapped her
Against her will
Thanks fo her father after her father raped her
She starved herself to get out of his place
where do people read romance into this, where??ßß1ßewkofp *flops over*
Thanks for continue to focus on the kidnapping part which is not the point of this myth.
Life and Death, the balance between them and the changes they cause, and the origin and meaning of the seasons cycle, on the other hand, are the real points.
Thanks for also persisting in the idea of Persephone as a passive figure. Kidnapped, raped, silenced, with no saying or power over anything (except for maybe starved herself because there are so many different versions of this myth that it’s difficult to keep track of them, did you know that apparently there is a version where she and Hades plot together?)
Thanks for also forgetting that she’s a goddess on her own and becomes Queen and Hades’ equal and actually they’re most stable marriages in the myths.
Thank you, you’ve enriched this post by telling me things I already know but I don’t care about. (◡‿◡✿)
Reblogging for the bitchin’ commentary and also to add that if anyone wants to read the most current (and IMO accurate) studies on Greek mythology and women’s lives, Women in Greek Myth by Dr. Mary Lefkowitz is invaluable (and incredibly inexpensive for an academic book).
The confusion comes from “Zeus” which is almost a title for a supreme god (think of the way “Caesar” was used). So you have Heavenly Zeus and Infernal Zeus, and they are not the same god but rather the supreme ruler of the sky and underworld, respectively. Likewise Persephone became known as “Infernal Hera” and this naming scheme persisted well into the Roman Empire, where Pluto and Proserpina are referred to as “Infernal Juno” and “Jupiter of Dis” in Book 6 of the Aeneid as well as on many grave monuments and in spells.
Moreover, gods don’t need to eat. Persephone refusing to eat was her refusing to become a part of the Underworld, not her attempting to starve herself. The gods are defined as being deathless, and in Ancient Greek “deathless” is synonymous with “god”. (Cf. Theogony, Works and Days, any of the Homeric Hymns, etc.) The Homeric Hymn to Demeter is really clear about this. (HH 2 370-4, 393-403.)
The marriage of Persephone and Hades is actually the most loving and consensual union among the Olympian deities. Hades first offers a dowry designed specifically to please Persephone (HH 2 10-14.), then carries her off and keeps her as a guest of honour in his house. (HH 2 341-345) Persephone is referred to as αἰδοίῃ παρακοίτι - his reverent wife. “Reverent” here refers to a respect for one’s duty, and the similarity between the pronunciation of αἰδοῖος an “Hades” is deliberate and intended to show how well-matched they are. Persephone misses her mother, yes, but is not overly upset about her marriage to Hades. Even Anchises expresses more regret over his union with Aphrodite. (HH 5 185-190.) Finally, as a proper parent, Demeter is rewarded for giving up her daughter, and offers a gift to the other gods in turn. (HH 2 441-495.)
It is worth noting that Demeter is given a position of remarkable power in this myth and is in many ways treated as or better than a father would be. The focus of the hymn remains the relationship between mother and daughter, and emphasises that it is a bond that can endure even after a woman leaves to marry. More importantly, the Homeric Hymn to Demeter is an etiological myth for the Thesmophoria and the Eleusinian Mysteries, a woman-only festival and the most enduring mystery cult of the ancient world. HH 2 serves to anchor women firmly in religious and family life and sets some fairly idealised standards for husbands. Many issues arise when attempting to interpret this myth into a modern context, which is why it is so important to understand that the myth was created over three thousand years ago and is largely a historical document reflecting the mores of the time.
This is the last time I’m reblogging this strip. I edited the original post because I’m really tired of this discussion, but latining’s comment is just perfect and flawless and really educating and everyone interested in this myth should read it.
THANK YOU. As someone who was obsessed with the Hymn to Demeter in high school, all fucking this.
Plus, yanno. All that on top of everyone’s right to interpret their myths.
Hey guys, I hate to do this, but my sister’s dog is in desperate need of your help. My sister, Amanda, is the type of person who has always fended for herself. She takes care of things quickly and efficiently without asking for help, so the fact that she’s reaching out for donations really concerns me – as she struggles with OCD and depression, I’m as worried for her mental state as I am for the health of her dog.
Her dog, Barney, is six years old, and Amanda truly sees him as her first child. When she gave birth to her daughter, a part of me worried that Barney would be replaced, but that’s not what happened at all. Barney loved baby Bryleigh from the moment he laid eyes on her, and spent every moment sleeping under her crib and sitting next to her, watching over her. He continues this behavior to this day, even now that Bryleigh is two years old. He patiently lets her tug on his ears, never lashing out at her. Now that he’s sick, Bryleigh says things like, “Barney can’t come home. He’s sick.” One night, Amanda even overheard Bryleigh saying, “Jesus please help Barney. Jesus help Barney. Amen.” While she can’t possibly understand the seriousness of what’s happening, being around her makes it so obvious that she’s worried for him, that she doesn’t know what to do without her dog – her best friend – constantly nearby.
Barney had been behaving strangely in the days leading up to his hospitalization, very weak and lethargic, and exhibiting some of the behavior I recognized from my cat’s near-death struggle with diabetes a year ago. Amanda had told me she had a vet visit planned for the following day, but I knew if my fears were true, it was possible he could be dead before then. I told her to take him to the vet immediately, and she did. This was July 2nd, and it was then that he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and possible diabetes. He was immediately put on an IV and given multiple medications, but not even 24 hours later, the vet called and informed them that it was unlikely Barney would survive the night, and that they’d have to make a decision: pay for continued treatment, or let him go.
With as much as Barney means to their family, Amanda couldn’t imagine doing anything other than continuing his treatment. So far, he has surprised everyone – the vet, the emergency clinic, and Amanda’s family – that he has held on so long, and every day he gets a little better. They visit him every day, and he’s even starting to wag his tail when he sees them. They now know, however, that in addition to his diagnosis of pancreatitis, he definitely suffers from diabetes with ketoacidosis. Between the insulin, constant bloodwork, pain and nausea meds and trying to balance his potassium and glucose, they are well at a $4,000 balance with no signs of him coming home soon. It appears another week of hospitalization may be needed as he is still not able to eat, his glucose levels are too high, and he has ketones in his urine. They were told each day would cost them around $1,000.
As I’m writing this, Amanda has been texting me, telling me she’s so scared that their balance is going to hit $10,000. Even with Amanda and her husband working fulltime jobs, this is a huge burden to their little family, and she has no idea how they’re going to make this happen.
A year ago, donations from Tumblr saved my cat’s life. Please save Barney, too. I want to do everything I can to make this easier on my sister – it breaks my heart to know she’s so upset over this, and this is the only way I know how to help her. The stress of knowing her beloved dog is sick is bad enough – I don’t want her to have to worry about the money, too.
Even if you can’t help financially, please reblog this post to get the word out.
